ASELSAN GÖKDENİZ SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE TEST

The GÖKDENİZ Close-in Air Defense System, developed by ASELSAN with domestic and national capabilities, successfully completed its live-fire test activity conducted on TCG İSTANBUL. The test once again confirmed the system’s capability to protect naval platforms against air threats in the field.

Using 35 mm ASELSAN ATOM Airburst Ammunition, GÖKDENİZ stands out with its autonomous operation capability, high firepower, and effectiveness against low-flying targets. The system, which provides proven protection against anti-ship missiles and sea-skimming threat scenarios, elevates the close air defense capabilities of naval forces to a higher level.

In his assessment of the test activity, Secretary of Defence Industries Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün emphasized that a new era had begun in naval air defense, stating that GÖKDENİZ was a strategic system that strengthened deterrence in the Blue Homeland. Görgün thanked ASELSAN and all stakeholders in the defense industry ecosystem for their efforts in achieving this important success.

Ahmet Akyol, President & CEO of ASELSAN stated that serial deliveries of GÖKDENİZ are continuing, noting that the system has the capability to neutralize numerous air threats, including asymmetric surface threats, and that it plays a gamechanging role in the world’s oceans.

Currently serving on various platforms belonging to the Naval Forces Command and featured in the inventories of three different countries, GÖKDENİZ demonstrates the Turkish defense industry’s expertise in naval systems on an international scale.
