The trade cooperation between Turkey and Sweden started with the mobile phone brand Ericsson and now there are over 125 Swedish companies operating in Turkey and over 400 companies are represented as distributors. According to 2018 data, 1.4 billion dollars of the total 3.1 billion dollars the mutual trade volume belongs to Turkey’s export.

Turkey-Sweden Business Council’s equivalent organization in Sweden, Business Sweden surveyed 50 Swedish countries operating in Turkey, and the results showed that the direct and indirect economic value that they created in 2019 was over TRY 12.5 billion and they plan to increase their net employment in Turkey to 36 thousand. These companies not only contribute to trade between Turkey and Sweden but to our economy as well with over 4 billion-dollar exports made in 2014-2018.

So, over 300 years of diplomatic closeness, the Turkish words still being used in the Swedish language and Swedish companies operating in Turkey have brought these countries of far geographies closer.
