DEIK IN 2024: NEW BREAKTHROUGHS IN BUSINESS DIPLOMACY
The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) has been carrying out its activities since 1985 to increase Türkiye’s foreign trade, strengthen international cooperation, and represent the Turkish business world more effectively in global markets. DEİK, which enables Turkish companies to be more effective abroad with hundreds of international events and cooperation opportunities every year, successfully continued this mission throughout 2024. It had an important year with innovative strategies and collaborations, adapting to the dynamics of global trade.
2024 was an extremely productive year for the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) in the field of trade diplomacy. With more than 2220 events, we have made a major contribution to Türkiye’s goal of deepening economic cooperation around the world. These events were organized with the participation of heads of state, leading decision-makers, and business people and brought concrete steps that contributed to Türkiye’s economic empowerment.
FEATURED EVENTS
The Iraq-Türkiye Round Table Meeting and Türkiye-Uzbekistan Round Table Meeting, which were organized with the presence of our President, strengthened the important cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade and investment. In addition, the Round Table Meeting organized as part of the 15th Türkiye Investment Conference and the Spain-Türkiye with Serbia-Türkiye Business Forums helped our economic relations with Europe to gain new dimensions.
Our cooperation efforts with the African continent also gained momentum in 2024. The Türkiye-Tanzania Business Forum and Round Table Meeting, organized with the presence of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan, and the Türkiye-Egypt Business and Investment Round Table Meeting, organized with the participation of the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, were important examples of these efforts. Also noteworthy were the Türkiye-Senegal Business Forum with the President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Business Council Working Dinner with the President of the Republic of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic.
The business forums and roundtables organized as part of the JETCO meetings provided opportunities to deepen Türkiye’s trade and economic relations with various countries in many different sectors. The 39th American-Turkish Conference and the 27th Japan-Türkiye Business Council Joint Meeting were organized with a significant number of participants. The Turkish-German Cooperation Reception, which was organized in the presence of former German President Christian Wulff, contributed to taking the traditional cooperation between Türkiye and Germany to new horizons.
On the other hand, in addition to the Türkiye-Saudi Arabia Business Council Joint Meeting and the Türkiye- Saudi Arabia Business and Investment Forum, we also organized the DEİK/Türkiye-Palestine Business Council Meeting with the presence of Mohammad Alamour, Minister of National Economy of Palestine.
AGENDA 2025
In 2025, DEİK’s agenda includes major events with high strategic impact. These include the 5th Türkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum, the 40th American-Turkish Conference, the 17th Türkiye Investment Conference, the 3rd Türkiye-China Business Conference, and the 28th Türkiye-Japan Joint Business Council Meeting.
We are also planning to organize various business forums and round tables within the Joint Economic Commission and Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO). DEİK Business Councils will continue to contribute to Türkiye’s economic goals in 2025 through their meetings, seminars, and negotiations with foreign and domestic delegations.
