And we conveyed our comprehensive views on the issue to the European Commission. We expressed our concerns about the EU’s compliance with the basic rules and principles included in mutual and international agreements, especially the Customs Union and the Free Trade Agreement signed with European Coal and Steel Community as well as compliance with WTO rules. We emphasized the need for establishing close cooperation with Turkey through consul- tations. Turkey also requested, as a candidate country and Customs Union partner, to have access to similar financing mechanisms that the EU offers to its Member countries. We will continue our written and verbal consul- tations with the EU in terms of both fulfilling the requirements of the Customs Union and looking at the issue in terms of our country’s membership and the close trade and economic integration with the EU. We will also continue our active participation in the World Trade Organisation discussions on the issue and we will evaluate the process in coordination with other countries. Ülke görüşlerimizde, AB’nin ülkemiz ile arasındaki başta Gümrük Birliği ve AKÇT STA’sı olmak üzere ikili anlaşmalarda ve uluslararası anlaşmalarda yer alan temel kural ve prensiplere uyumluluğu konusundaki endişelerimizi ve ülkemizle gerekli danışmaların yürütülerek yakın bir iş birliği tesis edilmesi ihtiyacını dile getirdik. Ayrıca, aday ülke ve Gümrük Birliği ortağı olarak ülkemizin AB’nin bu bağlamda yarattığı tüm finansman mekanizma- larına AB üyesi ülkelerle benzer şekilde erişiminin sağlanması konusundaki talebimizi ilettik. Önümüzdeki dönemde, hem Gümrük Birliği’nin gereğinin yerine getirilmesi hem de konunun ülkemizin üyelik perspektifi ve AB’ye sağlanan yakın ticari ve ekonomik entegrasyon açısından derinlemesine irdelenmesi bakımından AB ile yazılı ve sözlü olarak istişarelerimizi devam etti- receğiz. Tabii konu ile ilgili olarak Dünya Ticaret Örgütü’ndeki tartışmalara da aktif olarak katılmayı, diğer ülkelerle de koordine içerisinde süreci de- ğerlendirmeyi de sürdüreceğiz.
