ULAK COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES A NEW ERA IN SMART TRANSPORTATION WITH DOMESTIC 5G TECHNOLOGY
ULAK Communication is taking a significant step toward transitioning to 5G technology in line with Türkiye’s digital transformation goals. The company plans to establish the infrastructure for Smart Transportation Systems developed with domestic and national resources in the Hasdal region of Istanbul by the end of 2025 and launch 5G services. Within this scope, a 5G private network will be established at 19 field locations using components such as base stations, core network, and network management and monitoring system (NMS) developed by ULAK Communication. This infrastructure will enhance the communication capabilities of vehicles and transportation systems, enabling vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), and vehicle-to-cloud (V2N) communication, thereby providing high-speed, low-latency, and secure data communication.
ULAK Communications General Manager Ruşen Kömürcü said, “While our 4.5G + 5G base station field tests are continuing, we have started field trials with our 5G base station on closed-circuit private networks (Mobile Private Network). By the end of 2025, we will establish the Smart Transportation Systems infrastructure in the Hasdal region and launch 5G services. This infrastructure includes establishing 5G-enabled smart transportation infrastructure across 19 sites along a 40-kilometer corridor between the Istanbul Hasdal Intersection and Istanbul Airport. It will enable vehicles and transportation infrastructure to enhance their Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) communication capabilities, thereby providing high-speed, lowlatency, and secure data communication.”
