Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the number of embassies in Africa will be 44

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a joint press conference with Musa Faki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, at the Ministry. Çavuşoğlu stated that the number of Turkish embassies in Africa, which was 12 in 2002, has reached 43 today, and added that this number will be 44 with the embassy to be opened in Guinea-Bissau soon. Emphasizing that Türkiye aims to open embassies in 49 of 54 African countries, Çavuşoğlu stated that the number of African embassies in Ankara increased from 10 in 2018 to 37 this year. Çavuşoğlu also underlined that the total value of the projects implemented by Turkish companies in Africa exceeds $70 billion. Indicating that Turkey supports development activities in every part of Africa, Çavuşoğlu said, “Our total trade volume with Africa was $5.4 billion in 2003. Today, at the end of 2020, this volume has reached $25.3 billion. And also, despite the pandemic, this number is increasing. Our goal is to reach $50 billion.”

THE THIRD TÜRKİYE-AFRICA PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT WILL BE HELD ON DECEMBER 17-18

Announcing that Türkiye made suggestions for the date for the Third Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit, Çavuşoğlu said, “The Chairperson said that we can hold the summit on December 17-18. Our President of Türkiye clearly instructed that this summit has to be more successful. Together with our friends, we will use all our means available to make this summit successful.”
