Great Opportunity for Our Exporters: Mexico
Mexico has a wide trading area with its over 120 million population, NAFTA, and USMCA.
Mexico Palace of Fine Arts is the most important opera building in the country. The building is famous for the works of painters such as Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco.
Mexico has become one of Latin America’s rising economies after its economic transformations that started in the 1980s. Connecting North America with South
America, the Pacific Ocean with the Gulf of Mexico, and bordering the USA, Mexico has always stood out with its geographical position and has the second-largest econ- omy in South America. The country has a wide trading area with its population of over 120 million people, NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), and USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement).
Mexico holds great opportunities for Turkish exporters especially because it is an entrance to North America and offers free import means. THY’s flights to Mexico City and Cancun that started in 2019 have been another step for the development of mutual trade and tourism. How- ever, due to the distance between countries, temporary suspension of flights due to COVID-19, and the lack of an FTA, the mutual trade couldn’t reflect the potentials of both countries. But we will continue to increase the mutual trade with our industry-focused Interconnected Business Series activity, FTA works and introducing Turkey in Mexico.
