THE POWER OF INSTITUTIONS: AN ECONOMIC JOURNALIST’S TESTIMONY TO DEIK’S 40 YEARS
DEİK is a bridge built between countries, between cultures, and perhaps most importantly, between the hearts of business people
When I first started out in economic journalism, there was a reality I wasn’t fully aware of at the time, but which became crystal clear over time: the importance of institutions.
Regardless of the period, the economic climate, or the political climate, the existence of institutions is vital for sustainable development.
In this sense, DEIK (Foreign Economic Relations Board), celebrating its 40th anniversary, stands out as one of Türkiye’s most important building blocks. Over time, I realized that DEIK is not just an institution; it is a bridge.
A bridge between countries, between cultures, and perhaps most importantly, between the hearts of business people…
For 40 years, DEIK has been conveying Türkiye’s economic vision to the world and turning business diplomacy into a mission, paving the way for the business world with every step it takes. By building bridges between the state and the private sector, it has contributed to Turkish companies becoming more effective in the global arena.
Through foreign trade delegations, international events, and the partnerships it has established, it has pioneered the creation of new opportunities for the Turkish business world.
Seeing the synergy created by DEIK delegations at every event I attended always excited me. One of the most meaningful developments I have witnessed over the years as an economic journalist is this 40-year success story.
Today, if the voice of Turkish business is louder in global markets, DEIK’s contribution to this is undeniably significant.
Happy 40th anniversary!
