Bilateral business meetings were conducted in the fields of gas, textile, and air transportation, alongside discussions on investment opportunities at the Türkiye-Vietnam Business Forum

The Türkiye-Vietnam Business Forum took place in Ankara on November 30, 2023, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), in collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in Ankara. During the forum, discussions revolved around business and investment prospects in Binh Phuoc, Binh Dinh, and Phu Yen Provinces. Additionally, bilateral business meetings focused on sectors such as gas, textile, and air transportation were conducted.

PHAM: “WE HOPE TURKISH BUSINESS PEOPLE WILL INVEST IN VIETNAM”

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted the similarity between Vietnamese and Turkish industrialists, stating, “We have observed and witnessed the rapid and sustainable growth of your country. We realize that Türkiye has become very competitive. We are observing this with satisfaction. Türkiye has become one of the top twenty economies in the world. Certainly, it is truly a source of pride and admiration, to put it bluntly.” Pham emphasized Vietnam’s readiness to collaborate with Türkiye, highlighting the excellent relations between the two countries.

KACIR: “VIETNAM IS A CANDIDATE TO BE THE PRODUCTION CENTRE IN ASIA FOR TURKISH INVESTORS”

Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, expressed the aim to enhance trade and investment relations between Türkiye and Vietnam, recognizing Vietnam as one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia. Stating that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, the culture of doing business together can be developed through joint initiatives and investments, Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said: “With political stability and decisive policies in the last 21 years, we have built a great industrial and technological infrastructure in our country. In the last three years, as the global economy expanded by 7 percent, the Turkish economy demonstrated remarkable growth, reaching an impressive 20 percent. The substantial growth was evident in the export success of every sub-sector within our manufacturing industry. From a baseline of 36 billion USD in 2002, our exports surged to an unprecedented 254 billion USD, setting a new record in the history of our Republic.” Pointing out that the entrepreneurship ecosystem is referred to as the “star of Europe”, Kacır said that Türkiye has created 7 Turcorns exceeding billion dollar valuation and 2 Decacorns exceeding 10 billion USD valuation in the last four years. He expressed the belief that Vietnam, with its robust trade connections in Asia, is poised to become a key production centre in the region for Turkish investors.

ATİK: “TURKISH INDUSTRIALISTS AND INVESTORS SHOW SPECIAL INTEREST IN VIETNAM”

Murat Atik, Chairperson of DEİK/Türkiye-Vietnam Business Council, stated, “As the Türkiye-Vietnam Business Council, we maintain close communication with both the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Hanoi and the Embassy of Vietnam in Ankara. In our capacity as the Business Council, we facilitate meetings for our members to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam and explore collaboration opportunities. Our objective is to contribute to the advancement of trade relations between Türkiye and Vietnam, enhance trade volume, and address the foreign trade deficit. Notably, Turkish industrialists and investors have shown particular interest in Vietnam. Türkiye’s prominent companies are actively investing in Vietnam, participating in significant projects, some of which can be classified as mega projects. We hope to witness the involvement of globally reputable Turkish construction companies in a broader array of projects in Vietnam. Notably, there are promising opportunities for collaboration between Türkiye and Vietnam in the field of rail systems.”
