WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT IS THE KEY TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

DEİK’s respected position in the business world increases the effectiveness of Turkish women entrepreneurs in foreign markets and paves the way for new business partnerships

Developments in today’s world demonstrate that women must be involved in the development process in order to increase social welfare and achieve sustainability. Women playing a more active role in all areas and benefiting equally from rights, opportunities, and possibilities also contribute significantly to strengthening the family and social structure.

MINISTRY ROADMAP: 2024–2028 STRATEGY DOCUMENT

As the Ministry of Family and Social Services, our primary goals are to increase women’s participation in the workforce, support their entrepreneurship, and strengthen their representation in decision-making mechanisms. In this regard, we have implemented the ‘Women’s Empowerment Strategy Document and Action Plan’ (2024–2028). Under the Action Plan, our work focuses on five main areas: education, health, economy, participation in decision-making processes, and environment and climate change, with the aim of ensuring women have equal opportunities in social life.

EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION WITH COORDINATION COMMITTEES

We established the Women’s Empowerment Coordination Board and Provincial Coordination Boards with the Presidential Decree published on March 8, 2025. In this way, we aim to implement policies for women’s empowerment at the central and local levels in an effective and coordinated manner, with a holistic approach. In addition, we will focus on the following themes: “Care Responsibilities and Work-Life Balance,” “Climate Change, Environment, and Women’s Role,” “Strengthening Women’s Representation in Decision-Making Mechanisms,” “Local Development,” and “Empowering Girls and Women in STEM Fields.”

AWARENESS AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES FOR SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT

We carry out activities such as awareness campa igns, health and digital literacy training, and search conferences for women’s empowerment. Programs and projects aimed at increasing women’s represen tation in decision-making mechanisms and comba ting climate change are also among our priorities.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COOPERATIVES IN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

We establish important partnerships with institutions and organizations to support women’s entrepreneur ship. In collaboration with TÜBITAK, we encourage women entrepreneurs in the field of clean technology, and we facilitate access to rural development support with our TKDK project preparation training. We are strengthening women’s e-commerce capacities with Hepsiburada, while offering training, mentoring, and financial support on a single platform through our kadingirisimci.gov.tr portal. In the field of cooperatives, we have supported the establish ment of more than 1,300 women’s cooperatives in collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry and Trade, reaching approximately 90,000 people. With the “Ben de Varım” (I’m Here Too) application, we brought cooperatives engaged in e-commerce together under one roof.

EMPOWERING WOMEN IN EMPLOYMENT

The increasing role of women in industry, technology, and f inance is a great gain for our country. In collaboration with OSTIM, we provide vocational training and internship opportunities, and we are strengthening women’s representation in the energy sector with the Energy School project. Thanks to the financial literacy training provided by the Capital Markets Board, we have reached over 1 million people. We are working in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to support the employment of women and individuals with disabilities.

Facilitating women entrepreneurs’ access to international networks, it encourages women to play a more active role in trade and investment through the Women’s Platform Working Group. DEIK’s respected position in the business world increases the effectiveness of Turkish women entrepreneurs in foreign markets and paves the way for new business partnerships. As a ministry, we believe that organizations such as DEIK play a strategic role in the economic empowerment of women and the development of our country.

The equal participation of women in social and economic life is one of the most important factors strengthening our country and shaping its future. As the Ministry, we will resolutely continue our efforts in the coming period to ensure that women are more strongly represented in employment, entrepreneurship, cooperatives, and decision-making mechanisms.
