The eyes of the world are on Africa, Türkiye is in the hearts of Africa

The first year we established the DEİK/Türkiye-Togo Business Council, the number of people that both countries could communicate with was quite low. But with the opening of embassies in our country and in Togo, this step has been a major boost for the development of relations. I can proudly say that this year, our foreign trade volume with Togo reached 343 million dollars. Togo is one of the developing and most steadily growing West African countries in the region. Moreover, the modern port of Lome reaches far more than Togo’s population of 8.5 million. In other words, it is possible to move to many landlocked countries via Togo. I always tell Turkish investors that Togo may be a small country, but it has a very serious population.

Therefore, their infrastructure, energy, health, and housing needs are very high. Many of our companies can both increase their permanence and contribute to Togo by establishing business associations here. On the other hand, Türkiye has a very positive perception of Africa. The eyes of the world are on Africa, Türkiye is in the hearts of Africa. Türkiye’s interest in Africa and especially organizations such as TABEF pave the way for trade cooperation between the two countries. The most important point for investors and entrepreneurs in Africa is bilateral meetings. With the Türkiye-Africa IV Economic and Business Forum organized through DEIK, we show how much importance we attach to bilateral meetings. I believe that Türkiye’s win-win approach will take our relations with Africa to much better places.
