The significance and acknowledgment of the Türkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum, which we are organizing for the fourth consecutive year, keep growing steadily each day. The substantial interest in the Forum serves as a testament to Türkiye’s increasing significance for Africa. We are extremely pleased with this outcome. Ethiopia, as the headquarters of the African Union, stands as one of the most pivotal markets on the continent.

The economy has faced challenging periods in the past due to civil conflict and the pandemic, but it is gradually reverting to its normal trajectory. Before the war, its economy was experiencing growth of approximately 10 percent. Certain measures need to be implemented to regain this momentum.

Ethiopia can be characterized as a nation with a population of 120 million, boasting a substantial labor force potential, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors, and offering ample investment opportunities. Simultaneously, being close to the Gulf of Aden allows for viable exports to other nations, and it shares a historical connection with our country. Therefore, it is safe to say that this presents a tremendous opportunity for Turkish entrepreneurs.

TABEF saw the participation of numerous business individuals from Ethiopia. As the DEİK/Türkiye-Ethiopia Business Council, we are planning a visit to Ethiopia as well. Additionally, we are planning to host a collaborative business forum with Ethiopia next year. I am confident that establishing mutual business connections will yield positive outcomes for both countries.
