DEIK: THE STRONGEST ADDRESS FOR THE RIGHT CONNECTION

DEIK is one of the strongest institutions confirming the Six Degrees of Separation theory, which states that any two people in the world can be connected by no more than six social links. Throughout my professional career, I have witnessed DEIK creating opportunities for new investments and partnerships in the business world through the right connections.

I experienced this firsthand during the preparations for INBUSINESS Magazine’s Sustainable Century Summit. To share briefly, while preparing for the summit held in January 2023 with the participation of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I discovered a recycling orchestra established in Paraguay. I wanted to reach the founder of this amateur orchestra, which I could barely locate on the map, but I couldn’t connect with them through any social media account or other means of communication.

I told myself, “Focus, there must be a way to reach this orchestra.” And that’s when DEIK came to mind. I immediately informed DEIK Press Advisor Buket Erdat of the situation. Within minutes, Ms. Buket informed me that she had asked the President of the Paraguay Business Council and was awaiting a response.

Three days later, I obtained the founder’s cell phone number. It was an incredible experience for me. I thanked Ms. Buket and asked her how she found the number. Her answer, in short, was this: Our business council president had met Paraguay’s Deputy Minister of Culture at a DEIK event and obtained his number; he had relayed the matter to him. The deputy minister had asked someone on his team, and as a result, within three days, I had obtained the phone number of Favio Chavez, whom I had never met, on the other side of the world.

I wrote to Chavez, explained the situation, and hosted his orchestra in Istanbul. It took me three days to reach Chavez with just four social connections—because everyone in this chain was the right person. DEIK is one of the most important institutions that establishes these crucial connections our business world needs.
