İŞBANK AND TÜRKONFED HOST WOMEN’S POWER IN ENTERPRISE PROJECT (WELEAD) GATHERING IN HATAY
Organized as part of the WeLead project—which has been ongoing since 2021 with the support of İşbank and under the leadership of the Turkish Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED)—the “Inspiration Gathering” was held in Hatay. The event, attended by representatives from the business community, government, and civil society, addressed the role of women entrepreneurs in the economy, inclusive development, and resilient supply chains.
The event, attended by Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı, Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Öntürk, TÜRKONFED Board Chairman Süleyman Sönmez, Tüsiad Chairman Ozan Diren, and Anadolu Group Honorary Chairman Tuncay Özilhan, featured a special session titled “The Key to a Resilient Economy: Inclusivity and Evolving Supply Chains.” It also featured İşbank CEO Hakan Aran as a speaker.
In his speech at the event, Hakan Aran noted that they had witnessed firsthand the struggle of women’ s production cooperatives in Hatay to get back on their feet following the February 6 earthquakes, stating, “The determination of women who continue to produce even under the most difficult conditions and the economic value they create are extremely valuable. Through the WeLead project we are carrying out in collaboration with TÜRKONFED, we have reached over 12.000 women to date. Under the Women’ s Empowerment Declaration, we achieved our goal of providing 100 billion TL in financing for women entrepreneurs over five years by the first quarter of 2025. We have raised this target to 250 billion TL by the end of 2028.”
